Forward Craig Adams, who won the Stanley Cup on two occasions over 14 NHL seasons, announced his retirement on Tuesday.
He scored 55 goals and had 105 assists over 951 career games with the Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins. Adams, who had 12 points (7-5) over 106 playoff games, won championships in Carolina (2006) and Pittsburgh (2009).
"I consider myself very lucky to have been able to live out my dream of playing in the NHL," Adams said in a release issued by the NHL Players' Association. "I would like to thank all the management and coaches who took a chance on me and gave me an opportunity to play a role for their teams."
Adams, who was born in Seria, Brunei and raised in Calgary, made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes in the 2000-'01 season.
After a seven-season run in Carolina, Adams played parts of two seasons in Chicago before he was claimed on waivers by Pittsburgh in March 2009. Over the next five seasons with the Penguins, he played in all but two of the team's regular season games.
In 2014, Adams set the franchise mark for consecutive regular season games played (319). He played in 70 games with the Penguins last season and did not play in the current campaign.
