As Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock will remind you, you never underestimate your opponent. So, the Red Wings believe that the Pittsburgh Penguins are going to play their best game of the series in Game Six at Mellon Arena Tuesday evening.
But Babcock is confident. His squad will have had two days rest, so the big minute players like Henrik Zetterberg, Brian Rafalski and Nicklas Lidstrom will be ready to go.
What is also important here is the confidence and the experience of this group. It's in their hearts and in their minds that they will win this series - they don't see how they can loose. They may lose Game 6 but they don't see how they can lose the Stanley Cup championship.
Words of Wisdom
Pittsburgh Penguins co-owner Mario Lemieux spent time with the coaching staff and head coach Dan Bylsma on Monday, working on the white board to illustrate some diagrams.
I asked Bylsma about it afterwards and he said it's somewhat unique and a little bit unusual, but one Penguins player also told me that Lemieux went into the dressing room after a game in Washington during that series to talk to the players about the power plays.
It's a wonderful resource the coaching staff doesn't have a problem drawing on.
