Calgary Stampeders tight end Teyo Johnson suffered a knife wound to his back during a party Thursday night, and won't play in Sunday's CFL West Division semi-final against the Edmonton Eskimos.

According to the report in The Globe and Mail, Johnson is currently resting in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

''I'm a little bit sketchy about the details but what I know is he was a concert, he received a knife wound and spent the night in hospital,'' said Stamps head coach John Hufnagel. ''He is very doubtful obviously for the football game.

''The wound is not serious. It didn't hit any vital organs. That's what I know. Right now, we're concerned about Teyo but it did sound positive that he will have a quick recovery.''

Johnson caught 18 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games this season.

A native of White Rock, B.C., Johnson has played with the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals prior to signing in Calgary in 2008.
