The Eskimos found their franchise quarterback last year, their franchise coach this year, and together a playoff team was made.

Mike Reilly and Chris Jones were of course just two pieces – albeit important ones – to an Eskimos team that included potential Most Outstanding Player Adarius Bowman and the league’s top ranked defence.

The Roughriders meanwhile learned this season just how important Darian Durant was for their overall success when he went down with an elbow injury in mid-September.

At the time running stride for stride with the Calgary Stampeders atop the West Division standings, Saskatchewan could muster just two wins with Durant on the sidelines, using a combination of Tino Sunseri, Seth Doege, and Kerry Joseph at quarterback.

This matchup will be a battle of the backups however, with both Reilly and Durant expected to start the game on the sidelines. Each could be available to their teams but expect to see a lot more of Matt Nichols for the Eskimos and Joseph for the Roughriders.

Saskatchewan Roughriders at Edmonton Eskimos

  • Roughriders
    10-8
  • Eskimos
    12-6
  • Head-To-Head
    2-1 (EDM)
Unlike the Eastern Semi-Final where the two teams haven't met since mid July, the Roughriders and Eskimos met just last week in the regular season finale. That said, the lineups should look somewhat different this week - Mike Reilly will be back behind centre for the Eskimos while there's a chance Darian Durant returns from injury for the Roughriders.

BC Lions at Montreal Alouettes

    9-9
  • Alouettes
    9-9
  • Head-To-Head
    1-1
For the first half of the regular season it looked like the cross-over team in the Eastern Semi-Final would be the clear-cut favourite. That's no longer the case however, as the Alouettes - and the East Division in general - had a terrific second half and now the Lions and Alouettes enter Sunday's game with identical 9-9 records. This will be the first matchup between the two since mid-July. Read More...
