WHL: Hurricanes hand Broncos first loss of season

The Lethbridge Hurricanes handed the Swift Current Broncos their first loss of the Western Hockey League season thanks to the sharp shooting of Colton Sceviour.

Sceviour scored a natural hat trick as the Hurricanes downed Swift Current 5-2 Sunday.

Sceviour scored a pair of goals in the first period and another in the second.

Dwight King had a goal and two assists while Brent Henke also scored for Lethbridge.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Regina 2 Red Deer 1 (SO); Saskatoon 5 Medicine Hat 2; and Kelowna 6 Kootenay 3.

At Lethbridge, Alta., Justin Dowling and Jordan Peddle replied for Swift Current.

Juha Metsola made 39 saves for Lethbridge (5-2-0) while Mark Guggenberger stopped 14 shots for Swift Current (7-1-0).

Pats 2 Rebels 1 (SO)

At Regina, rookie sensation Jordan Weal scored the shootout winner to give the Pats a victory over Red Deer.

Blades 5 Tigers 2

At Saskatoon, Walker Wintoneak scored twice as the Blades defeated Medicine Hat.

Rockets 6 Ice 3

At Cranbrook, B.C., Cody Almond scored twice and the Kelowna Rockets jumped out to a 4-0 first period lead en route to win over the Kootenay Ice.
