According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Ducks have been granted permission by the Ottawa Senators to speak to former head coach Paul MacLean about joining Bruce Boudreau's staff.
The 2013 Jack Adams Award winner as the NHL's top coach spent a little more than three seasons behind the Senators' bench before being let go in December. He was in the first year of a three-year extension signed after the 2013 campaign.
MacLean, 57, guided the club to two playoff appearances (2012 and 2013) and accumulated a regular-season record of 114-90-35.
