Darren Helm will not hit the free agent market, instead coming to terms on a five-year, $19.25 million deal to stay with the Detroit Red Wings, according to a report from Aaron Ward.

Helm, 29, is coming off a 13-goal, 26-point season with the Red Wings. The former fifth-round pick has 72 goals and 162 points in 443 career games, all with the Wings. 

According to Ward, defenceman Alexei Marchenko has also re-signed with the Red Wings.
