The first game of a crucial four-game series for control of the American League East between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx has been rained out.
The game will be made up as the tail end of a doubleheader on Saturday.
David Price (14-5, 2.43 ERA) was scheduled to face rookie Luis Severino (3-2, 2.04 ERA) in the opener. He will now pitch Friday with Marco Estrada pitching Game 1 on Saturday and Marcus Stroman Game 2, according to John Lott of the National Post.
The Jays currently hold a game-and-a-half lead over the Yankees for the division lead.
The teams will play seven times before the month is over. After this weekend's series in the Bronx, the Yankees will visit the Jays for three games starting on September 21.
