Kings, Kopitar close to eight-year deal
Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings are closing in on a contract extension that should be completed on Thursday. TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reports the star forward and the Kings are in the final stages of completing an eight-year, $80 million extension.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger tweeted on Wednesday night that the extension should be completed on Thursday and will be front-loaded. Dreger added that a no-move clause will be part of the deal.
Kopitar, 28, has 12 goals and 35 points in 42 games with the Kings this season. He owns 230 goals and 645 points in 725 career NHL games, all with the Kings.
The Kings selected the centre with the 11th overall pick of the 2005 NHL Draft.
He is in the final year of a seven-year, $47 million contract signed prior to the 2009-10 season.
