The Toronto Maple Leafs are inviting some toughness to camp.
The team has invited forward Brandon Prust to camp on a professional tryout basis.
Prust, 32, is a nine-year veteran who spent last season between the Vancouver Canucks and their American Hockey League-affiliate Utica Comets. In 35 National Hockey League games, Prust had a goal and six assists, along with 59 minutes in penalties.
A native of London, Ontario, Prust was a third-round draft pick of the Calgary Flames in 2004 out of the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. Prust made his NHL debut for the Flames in 2006-07.
Prust has also spent time with the Phoenix Coyotes, New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens.
In 486 career NHL games, Prust has 40 goals, 70 assists and 1,036 penalty minutes.
The Maple Leafs - who also announced the signing of goaltender Jhonas Enroth on Monday - open camp on September 22 in Halifax.
