ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Linus Ullmark made 33 saves as the Rochester Americans edged the visiting Toronto Marlies 3-2 on Friday in American Hockey League action.
Nick Baptiste and Cal O'Reilly had a goal and an assist apiece for the Americans (9-11-1) while Cole Schneider opened the scoring just 1:07 into the game.
Viktor Loov and Andrew Nielsen responded for the Marlies (10-7-2), who have dropped back-to-back games.
Veteran goaltender Jeff Glass got the start for Toronto and turned away 22-of-25 shots. It was his second start of the season after returning to North America from the KHL, where he played for the last seven years.
Marlies netminder Garret Sparks, who was suspended last week for violating team policy, was activated after missing three games. He dressed as Glass's back up.
Rochester went 1 for 7 on the power play while Toronto failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.
