Washington Capitals' star winger Alexander Ovechkin has returned to Russia to be with his ailing grandfather and will miss Tuesday's game against the Nashville Predators.
It will mark the second game Ovechkin has missed since joining the Capitals four seasons ago. It wil also snap a streak of 203 consecutive games played dating back to his rokie campaign of 2005-06.
He is listed as day-to-day as the Capitals monitor the family situation in Russia.
This season, Ovechkin has two goals and three assists for five points in eight games.
