The New Jersey Devils are awaiting word on how long they will be without Marin Brodeur.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion left during the second period of Saturday's Devils victory over the Atlanta Thrashers with what was described as a "bruised elbow."  He left the arena without talking to the media.

Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello told ESPN.com that Brodeur would not play during Monday's game against the Buffalo Sabres in New Jersey.  Kevin Weekes will get his first start of the season in the game.

The Devils have called up goaltender Jeff Frazee from Trento of the ECHL under emergency conditions to serve as Weekes backup.

Team officials stated that the four-time Vezina trophy winner would undergo an X-ray and MRI examination later Sunday, however no other information would be given on his health until he is evaluated further.

Brodeur did pick up the win on Saturday for career victory number 544, meaning he needs just seven victories to tie Patrick Roy's record of 551 wins.  He is also five shutouts short of Terry Sawchuk's career mark for shutouts with 103.
