The NHL has announced its "Three Stars" for the week.
First star honours go to Bruins' centre Marc Savard, who led all NHL scorers with two goals and six assists last week. Savard's eight-point outburst led Boston to four straight wins and first place overall in the Eastern Conference. The 31-year-old Ottawa native is now second in the league in assists (19), third in points (27) and third in plus-minus (+13) this season.
The second star is Canucks' centre Henrik Sedin. The 28-year-old Swede had seven points (all assists) as his team went 3-0-1 on its four-game road trip. With 21 points this season, Sedin is the leading scorer for the Canucks, who increased their Northwest Division lead to five points with their successful stint on the road.
And Blackhawks' goalie Nikolai Khabibulin is the NHL's third star, posting a 3-0-0 record with a 2.90 goals-against average and .918 save percentage. The 35-year-old Russian was particularly strong in a 36-save shootout victory over Phoenix on November 18th, and had another notable performance in a 5-4 overtime win against Toronto on November 22nd, during which he made 34 stops. Khabibulin has not lost in regulation in his last 11 appearances, going 7-0-4 since October 15th.
