The Detroit Red Wings have avoided arbitration with restricted free agent Ville Leino, signing the forward to a two-year contract.

The 25-year old appeared in 13 games for Detroit in 2008-09.  He finished with five goals and four assists for nine points while posting a +5 plus-minus rating.

Leino also played in seven games for the Red Wings during Detroit's 2009 Stanley Cup Final run, posting two assists.

The native of Savonlinna, Finland spent the majority of the 2008-09 season with Detroit's American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins.  In 57 games with Grand Rapids he registered 46 points (15-31—46).
