The Philadelphia Flyers received some more bad news on the injury front Friday.

After losing Simon Gagne to a groin injury Monday, the team learned that forward Dan Briere is suffering through a slight groin strain of his own which he tweaked during the first period of Tuesday's game against the Capitals.

Briere missed 53 games last season due to groin and abdominal injuries.

"It's a tough break for Danny," Flyers' general manager Paul Holmgren told the Philadelphia Daily News. "He was playing well. We thought we'd give him one day off and it would get better, and it's kind of gone from there."

While Briere is considered day-to-day, he will not be in the Flyers lineup Saturday afternoon against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Flyers have recalled forward David Laliberte from Adirondack of the AHL.
