The Edmonton Oilers have signed two-time Stanley Cup champion Kris Versteeg to a professional tryout, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.
The 30-year-old signed with SC Bern of the Swiss National League this summer, but is now a free-agent once again after insurance complications caused his deal to fall through.
Over 77 games with the Carolina Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings last season, Versteeg tallied 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points. He has 131 goals and 182 assists for 313 points over 550 career games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers, Hurricanes and Kings.
