The Calgary Stampeders signed free agent Canadian linebacker Shomari Williams on Tuesday.

The Roughriders released Williams last week, putting an end to his second tour of duty in Saskatchewan.

After being drafted first overall by the team, Williams spent three years with the Roughriders before signing with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The 29-year-old Queen's product finished with 17 special teams tackles last season.
