Halle, Germany (Sports Network) - Second-seeded Serbian star Novak Djokovic advanced to the final of the $1 million Gerry Weber Open with a straight set win Saturday over qualifier Olivier Rochus.
Djokovic defeated his Belgian opponent 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 in 1 hour, 54 minutes and will try for his third title of 2009. He has titled this year in both Dubai and Belgrade, and a win on the grass would give him one title on each surface -- grass, hard, clay -- this year.
His opponent will be German wildcard Tommy Haas, who battled back from down 2-5 in the third set to post a 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3) victory over Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber, last year's runner-up here. The 31-year-old Haas, who was the No. 2 player in the world in 2002, will try to win his first tournament since 2007 in Memphis. He has never won a grass tournament.
Haas and Djokovic have squared off two times before, with Djokovic taking both battles, although neither have been on a grass surface. They met once this year, in the ATP Masters event in Indian Wells, where the Serb was a straight set winner in the round of 32.
The winner Sunday will collect $160,000.
