The Vancouver Whitecaps have traded striker Darren Mattocks to the Portland Timbers in exchange for general allocation money, targeted allocation money, and an international roster spot for the 2017 season.

The Whitecaps will also receive a percentage of future transfer proceeds if Mattocks is transferred out of MLS.

"We're grateful for Darren's four years of service with the club," said Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson. "He brought a lot of excitement to our team coming in as a young player. We wish him the best in Portland."

The 25-year-old scored 20 goals in four seasons with the Whitecaps appearing in 96 MLS regular season and MLS Cup Playoff games.

The Whitecaps selected Mattocks with the second overall pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft.
