Alex Galchenyuk scored a goal with the extra attacker and less than a minute left but it was not enough as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Montreal Canadiens 2-1.

Jason Pominville scored his fifth goal of the season midway through the second period to give Minnesota a 2-0 lead.

Jason Zucker scored 19 seconds into the opening frame to give the Wild an early lead.

Darcy Kuemper got the win for the Wild, making 18 saves. Carey Price had 33 stops.

Montreal legend Jean Beliveau, who passed away last night, was honoured before the game. The Canadiens wore a special '4' sticker on their helmets.
