Subban to be part of this team,” Bergevin said in a conference call. “A GM once said that ‘If I think like I fan, I’ll soon be one.’ I respect the fans, I love the fans, they have their own opinions; what we do internally is we try to make the right decision for the team and the player.” Subban added, “This is where my heart is, in Montreal. It’s not just about one player, it’s about a team, and building a team, a championship team, and I want to be part of that.”

February 17, 2016 - During the third period of a game with the Colorado Avalanche, Subban slips at the blue line, allowing Jarome Iginla to score the eventual game-winning goal against Montreal. Therrien responds to the gaffe by benching him for the rest of the game. "It's too bad that an individual mistake cost us the game, late in the game," Therrien said of the mistake. "As a coach, I thought he could've had a better decision at the blue line. February 20, 2016 - Subban responds to the benching with a two-assist effort in a 3-2 shootout win over the Flyers. “Our fans have always been here for us, but as for critics and people who want to pick apart what goes on in this dressing room, I expect to hear that,” Subban said after the game. “I’ve been here long enough to know that the best thing to do is go out and perform and produce and that’s the best way to shut people up."

June 23, 2016 - Bergevin issues a denial when it comes to whether or not the team is looking to trade Subban before his no-trade clause kicks in on Canada Day. “I never shopped P.K. Subban,” Bergevin said. “I never had, I’m not now. But I can’t help teams from calling me.”
