TSN has unveiled a series of exciting new initiatives this year, and the updates continue today with the launch of the redesigned TSN.ca. Just one month after launching its lineup of five national feeds, TSN is raising the bar again with a revamped website that allows fans to find their favourite TSN content quicker and easier than ever before.

For a primer on the new TSN.ca, we sat down with Chris Collie, Associate Director of Digital for TSN, who headed up the project. We asked him about the key features and changes you'll find on Canada's #1 sports website.

What was the key goal of this redesign?

People come to TSN.ca for everything sports: news, scores, and our expert analysis and commentary. If we can do a better job of delivering this in a quick, clear, easy-to-consume format, we're going to make our users happy, and they will keep coming back. We don't see TSN.ca as our website; it's really our users' website.

What are the most exciting new elements of the site?

TSN.ca is now effectively multiple websites in one, adapting visually to the type of device you visit from. It follows responsive user experience design, meaning if you surf to the website from a desktop computer, a tablet, or a smartphone, we did our best to make sure the website adapts and fits properly. We always want to make sure you can find all of the latest content on each version, with no major limitations. This is a big step forward from the previous TSN.ca.

There are also a number of new features. We used a feed setup in the main column of the home page, and sport-specific sections that present the latest of everything TSN has to offer including, news, video, audio clips from radio – all managed constantly by TSN's digital editors. Think of it like a timeline, where you can be immersed in content. Users can hit "Load More" at the bottom and keep seeing more content.

We now have breaking news alerts across the top of the website for the latest major updates, or to showcase key live streaming events. The scoreboard has also been improved, with more leagues to come soon.

What is the ON TSN Widget?

The ON TSN widget displays programming information and events coming up on TSN whether it be on our five feeds or on TSN GO. There aren't always specific times for some live events, like US Open tennis matches. We always want to have a visible update for fans on the network's next big upcoming event. Also, that function will be unique in each section, so if you're on the MLB page, you'll see when TSN's next MLB game is.

McKenzie blogHow can I follow my favourite TSN personalities?

We've made TSN Talent pages and Show pages much deeper and richer in content. On a single page, you can now find the latest content from your favourite reporter or Insider. Take Bob McKenzie for example – visit his Talent page and you can see his latest Draft Rankings, Insider Trading coverage, blogs, audio clips of appearances he's made on TSN Radio 1040 in Vancouver, or video clips of interviews he's conducted with NHL general managers. It's all of the content from the industry's leading insider in one place.

What does the future hold for the new site?

The new norm in digital media is you're never done. You're always evolving. The new TSN.ca will continue to evolve over the coming days, weeks, and months, and this is the new platform we're going to be working from. A couple of the things we're working on include adding more leagues to the scoreboard and giving users the ability to search the site in its entirety.
As I said before, this site belongs to the users as much as it does the team, and we're here to listen. Send us your feedback by emailing audiencerelations@tsn.ca. We want to continue to improve the site and give sports fans the best experience possible.
