Canadian Brooke Henderson (+1) sits seven shots off the lead as she struggled at the end of the second round of the CPKC Women's Open from from Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary.

The Smiths Falls, Ont., native started off hot on Friday, beginning the day with birdies in three of her first four holes. She then remained within striking distance of leader Lauren Coughlin by hitting for par on her next 10 holes.

However, she ended her round with bogeys in the last four holes as she plummeted down the leaderboard and ended her day at 1-over 73.

"It was going really well there for a while, but it was just a tough finish," Henderson told TSN's Bob Weeks after her round. "I feel lilke I was playing really great golf up until [hole] 15 and then it got away from me a bit. The conditions were really tough out there today, so it was pretty challenging all and all."

The 26-year-old shot an opening round even-par 72, making two birdies and two bogeys on the day. She began Friday tied for 22nd.

Henderson won the event in 2018 at the Wascana Country Club in Regina, Sask., becoming the first Canadian to win her national open since Jocelyne Bourassa in 1973.
