Brad Marchand is making yet another donation to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Marchand was fined $5,000 on Monday for his cross-check to the head of Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Andrew MacDonald on Sunday.

Marchand was hit into the boards by MacDonald in the offensive and responded by cross-checking MacDonald in the visor after he had fallen to the ice. He was assessed a two-minute minor for cross-checking late in the second period for the incident.

Marchand forfeited $373,475.60 in salary to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund in January as part of his five-game suspension for elbowing New Jersey Devils forward Marcus Johansson and another $2,000 for diving last month.

In total, the 29-year-old has now surrendered $879,522.51 in salary for on-ice offences since 2011.

Last week, Johansson sounded off on Marchand's boderline playing style.

"I'm hoping it doesn't come to him ending someone else's career before it's enough," Johansson said of Marchand's play. "It's not why we play the game. There are obviously situations where you try to hit someone and make a hockey play and it goes wrong. Then there are plays like this that have nothing to do with hockey. It's sad to see. I guess I'm unfortunate to be on the receiving end of that."
