Byun “ByuN” Hyun Woo emerged as the WCS Global Finals champion with a 4-2 win over Park “Dark” Ryung Woo at BlizzCon this weekend.
The final was a fast-paced affair that saw five of the six games end in less than 15 minutes.
ByuN secured the quickest round of the series with a 10-minute victory in the opener. Dark responded in Game 2 with an equally strong performance in a 14-minute victory.
Game 3 was a more contentious affair, if not a longer one, that saw Dark dive too deep in an attempt to take the series advantage. ByuN countered the Zerg onslaught and stole the round.
The momentum continued in Game 4 as ByuN and the Terran needed just 11 minutes to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.
Game 5 was the longest of the series at 23 minutes and was a back and fourth tilt that put the skill of the combatants on full display. Dark managed to stay alive and push the series to a sixth game.
In Game 6 it was ByuN who decided to go all-in and it proved to be a championship move. The Terran pushed and steadily broke down the Zerg opposition to take the game in 12 minutes, the series 4-2 and the 2016 WCS Championship.
