WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- Canada wrapped up its fourth stop of the Rugby Sevens World Series on Friday with a seven-try 41-0 victory over Papua New Guinea after absorbing two losses.
Canada received first-half scores from Conor Trainor and Sean Duke of Vancouver, Liam Underwood of Toronto and John Moonlight of Pickering, Ont., while Mike Fuailefau of Victoria caused the islanders problems with his power and speed.
Papua New Guinea could not keep up the Canadians' ability to keep the ball moving before contact and this continued after the interval when Trainor won the restart and Fuailefau's carry led to the former going over near the left sideline.
At 29-0, Harry Jones of North Vancouver sparked an attack from his 22 that resulted in Pat Kay of Duncan B.C. feeding Victoria's Sean White wide out.
Vancouver's Admir Cejvanovic scored Canada's final try of the game after an interchange between several players.
Canada had opened the series with back-to-back defeats in Pool B play, falling 26-5 to New Zealand and 27-5 loss to England.
Canada's next game is a quarter-final on Friday evening against Portugal.
