Canada has unveiled its 23-player roster for the FIFA Women's World Cup.
While many familiar faces return from the squad that won bronze at the 2012 London Olympic Games, the roster also features nine players who have not yet appeared in a World Cup match.
"We've got a fantastic group of players here that are ready to step up and proudly represent their country on the biggest stage," said head coach John Herdman. "It's now up to Canadians to show them they are not alone on this journey and that they've got the strength of an entire country with them."
Captain Christine Sinclair heads the Canadian roster which also features London standouts Melissa Tancredi and Diana Matheson, who was named the roster despite still nursing a knee injury.
"(John Herdman) has completely changed this team," said Sinclair. "If you look at the rosters, from this year and 2011, there are a lot of the same players, but he's completely changed our team. He's completely changed each individual player and with him as our head coach, anything is possible."
Among the high-profile World Cup rookies are 20-year-old fullback Kadeisha Buchanan and 17-year-old midfielder Jessie Fleming.
"Every time I get to play for Canada it's a special moment and I'm just pumped for the start of the tournament," said Fleming.
A total of 15 players from the London 2012 roster return for the World Cup, which kicks off on June 6 when Canada takes on China in Edmonton.
