CCT Recap: Edmonton's Rocque wins in Korea
Kelsey Rocque and her young Edmonton rink won the Uiseong Masters on the Curling Champions Tour in Korea for their second win this season.
Team Kelsey Rocque's first season together has been pretty successful.
The young foursome from Edmonton of skip Rocque, third Laura Crocker, second Taylor MacDonald and lead Jen Gates won their second event of the season earlier Friday, taking the Uiseong Masters in Korea on the Curling Champions Tour.
Rocque beat Switzerland’s Silvana Tirinzoni, 5-1, in the final. They had already beaten Caledon's Allison Flaxey in the semifinal and American Nina Roth in the quarterfinals. Team Rocque had a total record of 6-1 over the entire week in Uiseong. They moved up to third on the World Curling Tour Money List, with $101,705 in winnings on the season.
The small 10-rink field also featured two-time Scotties finalist Val Sweeting, who lost to Flaxey in the quarters.
Rocque, a two-time world junior champ, teamed up with Crocker, McDonald and Gates this season after their skip Chelsea Carey joined another squad.
Team Rocque also won the Red Deer Classic in October.
