Catch the Eastern Semi-Final Sunday, November 16 on TSN1, TSN3, TSN4, and TSN5. Coverage begins at Noon et/9am pt.

The Alouettes’ regular season can be split into two parts, and the good part coincides with Jonathan Crompton taking over at quarterback.

But so much more went into Montreal’s 8-2 second half. A star was born in linebacker Bear Woods while Duron Carter found his form of a year ago as one of the league’s best receivers and Tyrell Sutton provided production out of the backfield.

Montreal was the first East Division team to clinch a playoff and although they lost their division crown to Hamilton on the last week of the regular season, they head into the playoffs on a hot streak and with home field advantage in the Eastern Semi-Final, a strong end result for a team that won just one of their first seven games.

Heading East is the Lions. BC fought to a playoff position despite an injury-filled year for their offence with star QB Travis Lulay limited to just two appearances and star running back Andrew Harris missing the final month with a dislocated ankle.

BC’s strength is their defence. Solomon Elimimian has to be on the shortlist for the Most Outstanding Player award and leads an intimidating unit alongside the likes of Adam Bighill, Alex Bazzie, and Ronnie Yell.

The two split their season series but haven’t played since mid-July and carry different looking lineups into the Eastern Semi-Final.

Eastern Semi-Final

BC Lions at Montreal Alouettes

  • Lions
    9-9
  • Alouettes
    9-9
  • Head-to-Head
    1-1
For the first half of the regular season it looked like the cross-over team in the Eastern Semi-Final would be the clear-cut favourite. That's no longer the case however, as the Alouettes - and the East Division in general - had a terrific second half and now the Lions and Alouettes enter Sunday's game with identical 9-9 records. This will be the first matchup between the two since mid-July.

Saskatchewan Roughriders at Edmonton Eskimos

  • Roughriders
    10-8
  • Eskimos
    12-6
  • Head-to-Head
    2-1 (EDM)
Unlike the Eastern Semi-Final where the two teams haven't met since mid July, the Roughriders and Eskimos met just last week in the regular season finale. That said, the lineups should look somewhat different this week - Mike Reilly will be back behind centre for the Eskimos while there's a chance Darian Durant returns from injury for the Roughriders.
