The battle for the majority of the $2.5 million prize pool looked to be a lengthy one after the opening map ended in a tie, forcing a replay. Playing Capture the Flag on Coliseum, the teams traded blows and headed to overtime where nothing was solved. In the replay, CLG put Allegiance on notice with a convincing 3-0 victory in just over five minutes.

It didn’t take long for the snowball to become insurmountable for Allegiance and CLG did not let their foot off the gas. The champs cruised through the second match, The Rig Slayer, by a score of 50-22 and were even more impressive in Game 3 with a 100-15 win on Plaza Strongholds.

In the decisive Game 4, a Fathom Capture the Flag match, Allegiance hung on as long as they could but in the end CLG pulled out a 2-1 win to take the game and the world title.

Team Allegiance’s Brett “Naded” Leonard was named tournament MVP after leading the team to upsets over Group B winners Renegades in the quarter-finals and Group C winners Team eLevate in the semis.

CLG went unbeaten in Group D and defeated Evil Geniuses in the quarters and Denial eSports en route to a spot in the finals.
