Drake announces October World Weekend event in Toronto
Almost one month after the release of Drake’s seventh studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, the Canadian rapper announced a lead-up event to his highly-popular OVO Fest.
Titled October World Weekend, the event is scheduled to take place July 28, 29 and Aug. 1 at Drake’s club History and Budweiser Stage. The lineup includes a range of talented Canadian artists who will perform at the nightclub. Meanwhile, Chris Brown, Lil Baby, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne are set to perform at Budweiser Stage. The latter is advertised as a “Young Money Reunion,” so Drake will likely perform alongside the two rap legends.
“We wanted to turn the city up for the summer,” Drake said in an Instagram post announcing the event to his followers. He went on to share his plans for making OVO Fest a worldwide event in 2023; it will be the festival’s 10th anniversary. October World Weekend is advertised as the “Road to OVO Fest Tour.” Drake first started the festival in 2010, but the festival has missed two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tickets for October World Weekend go on sale Friday at Ticketmaster. Drake said more event announcements are coming soon.
