Oilers acquire Walman from Sharks in exchange for Berglund, '26 first-rounder
The Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Jake Walman from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Carl Berglund and a 2026 first-round pick, it was annoucned early Friday morning.
Walman, 29, has scored six goals and 26 assists for a career-high 32 points in 50 games for San Jose this season.
The Toronto native is in the second-year of a three-year, $10.2 million deal that carries an AAV of $3.4 million.
Berglund, 25, has played 45 games this season with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors, recording two goals and 12 points. In 63 career AHL game between 2022 and 2025, Berglund has posted three goals and 16 points. The six-foot-two, 207-pound native of Hammaro, Sweden, Berglund played collegiately for four seasons at UMass Lowell.
He was originally signed by the Oilers as an undrafted free agent in March 2023.
