Marcelo “coldzera” David was among those honoured at the inaugural eSports Industry Awards in London. The Brazilian Counter Strike: Global Offensive player was named Player of the Year.

The event on Monday night recognized individuals and organizations who have contributed to developing esports. Along with David, Seth “Scump” Abner, content creators like Richard Lewis and Robert Paul, and companies like Team EnVyUs, Valve and Twitch received awards.

Abner received Console Player of the Year honours, with player awards also given to Team Liquid's Amer “Miracle-” al-Barqawi, for Rookie of the Year; SK's Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, for Esports Personality of the Year; and CoD pro Callum “Swanny” Swan, for UK Esports Player of the Year.

Most of the awards were decided by a panel of judges that included Christopher "MonteCristo" Mykles, Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner, Alan "Bricey" Brice and representatives of Team Dignitas, NOWTV and Twitch, but voters were also allowed to participate. Richard Lewis, winner of Esports Journalist of the Year; Robert Paul, winner of Esports Photographer of the Year; and Overwatch, named New Esports Game of the Year were decided by popular vote.
