From Knute Rockne to Ara Parseghian to Lou Holtz, the University of Notre Dame has one of the most storied and successful football programs in American college football history.  In addition to what happens on the field, there has always been a great interest in what transpires off of it at the South Bend, Indiana school known for high academic standards as well as the religious tones that infuse everything that happens at the institution.

Showtime’s “A Season With Notre Dame Football”, takes you inside the huddles, locker rooms and classrooms as head coach Brian Kelly takes charge of his sixth season of Fighting Irish football and tries to lead the historic program to their 12th consensus national title.

As the Fighting Irish prepare to open their season against the Texas Longhorns, players fight for their place on the starting roster and the chance to run out of the tunnel of Notre Dame Stadium in the first game of the season.

With last year’s starting quarterback Everett Golson transferring to Florida State, Malik Zaire steps into the spotlight as he works with new offensive coordinator Mike Sanford prior to the first game of the year.

Can the Irish get their season off on the right foot or will the Longhorns crash the party?
