Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton Oilers forward Alex Chiasson has entered concussion protocol, according to head coach Dave Tippett.

Chiasson received a hit by Colorado Avalanche defenceman Ryan Graves on Wednesday night at Pepsi Center before exiting the game with an upper-body injury. Graves met Chiasson at the blueline during an attempt to enter the Avs' zone and did not receive a penalty.

The play occurred in the second period of a 4-1 Oilers' loss and saw the 29-year-old sprawled on the ice for several minutes after the fact.

Chiasson has two goals and four assists across 23 games this season.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins underwent a procedure on his hand and will not be available until sometime next week at the earliest. The 26-year-old has 16 points across 25 games played this season.


Toronto Maple Leafs

Head coach Sheldon Keefe has opted to start Michael Hutchinson on Friday in the first half of Toronto's back-to-back against the Buffalo Sabres. Frederik Andersen is expected to play on Saturday at home.


Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens are hosting the New Jersey Devils Thursday night in what is the NHL's lone American Thanksgiving game. 

Forward Paul Byron is considered day-to-day with a knee injury but is not expected to return tonight against the Devils. Fellow forward Jonathan Drouin is on Injured Reserve.

An optional skate was held this morning and featured the following players:

Ottawa Senators

Head coach D.J. Smith has confirmed that goaltender Anders Nilsson will start Friday in Minnesota. The 29-year-old backstop is 7-5-0-1 with a .927 save percentage and 2.58 goals-against average this season for the Senators.

The team has also placed fellow netminder Craig Anderson on Injured Reserve. Marcus Hogberg is expected to start on Saturday in Ottawa's second game in as many days.

Both Artem Anisimov and Vladislav Namestnikov have shed their non-contact practice jersey's and appear to be nearing a return to action. Anisimov, 31, has been out of the lineup with a groin injury since Nov. 7, while Namestnikov, 27, has been absent since Nov. 20 due to a different lower-body injury.

Ottawa has reassigned forward Max Veronneau to the AHL's Belleville Senators as a result of other players returning to the 23-man roster. 


New Jersey Devils

Devils goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood will start tonight against the Montreal Canadiens. The 22-year-old owns a 7-6-0-3 record with an .898 save percentage and 3.07 GAA in 2019-20.

Forward Pavel Zacha will be back in tonight's lineup after being a healthy scratch the past two games. The 22-year-old has amassed two goals and seven assists in 20 games so far this season.

Fellow forward Kevin Rooney is listed as questionable after missing the team's previous six games with an upper-body injury. The 26-year-old has one assist across 13 games this season.

Additionally, defenceman Connor Carrick remains out of the lineup with a fractured finger.

Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings lost goaltender Jimmy Howard to a lower-body injury during Wednesday night's 6-0 blowout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs and have recalled Calvin Pickard from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins as a result. Backup netminder Jonathan Bernier took over for Howard in the first period of last night's game despite having an illness.


Colorado Avalanche

Andre Burakovsky is day-to-day after sustaining an upper-body injury in Wednesday night's 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. The 24-year-old forward is having a resurgent season with 21 points in 24 games up to this point.

The Avalanche have recalled forward depth in the form of Sheldon Dries of the AHL's Colorado Eagles. Dries, 25, has eight goals and six assists through 17 games with the Avs' AHL affiliate.

A.J. Greer has also been recalled to give the team a spare defenceman in the event of another injury.

The Avs have also announced that forward Mikko Rantanen will return to the lineup on Saturday when the Avalanche take on the Chicago Blackhawks. 

 The forward has missed the last 14 games with a lower body injury.


Vegas Golden Knights

Forward Valentin Zykov has cleared waivers as of noon EST following a 20-game suspension that ended after last night's 4-3 overtime win over the Nashville Predators. He has been assigned to the AHL's Chicago Wolves.


Chicago Blackhawks

Veteran defenceman Duncan Keith is not practicing today in favour of a maintenance day. The 36-year-old rearguard has seen a decline in his offensive production this year, registering just one goal and six assists through 24 games played.


Minnesota Wild 

Minnesota goaltender Devan Dubnyk has returned to practice as his wife deals with medical issues

 Before his absence, Dubnyk had played 14 games this season posting four wins and eight losses with a 3.35 GAA and a .895 save percentage


St Louis Blues

The Blues are fearing that Oskar Sundqvist will be out for a significant period of time after suffering a lower-body injury on Wednesday night. 

 The 25-year-old has played in 26 games this season scoring eight goals and adding four assists. 

The Blues have called up Austin Poganski from San Antonio of the AHL. 

Poganski has two goals and 11 assists in 21 games played for the Rampage this season.


Nashville Predators

Forward Kyle Turris will be a healthy scratch for the fifth consecutive game.
