Ice Chips: Zetterlund skates with Tkachuk, Stutzle at Sens practice

Ottawa Senators

Coming off a 5-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, trade deadline acquisition Fabian Zetterlund has been elevated to the top line alongside Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle. 

Zetterlund was acquired on Mar. 7 alongside Tristen Robins and a 2025 fourth-round pick from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Zack OstapchukNoah Gregor and a 2025 second-round pick. 

The 25-year-old has yet to register a point in six games since arriving in Ottawa. In 64 games with the Sharks this season, he had 17 goals and 36 points. 

On defence at practice, Nick Jensen was back on the ice but Artem Zub was absent for a maintenance day. 

Jensen, 34, has missed the last three games for the Senators with a lower-body injury. He has three goals and 19 points in 60 games with Ottawa this season.

Zub played 27:21 minutes in Thursday's loss. He has two goals and 10 points in 43 games this year while averaging 20:27 minutes of ice time.

The Senators are back in action Saturday night against the New Jersey Devils. Ottawa has dropped back-to-back games since winning six straight. 


Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers will be without Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on Saturday as head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed that neither will play against the Seattle Kraken.

Knoblauch added that there's no exact timeline for either forward but said they could be out as long as a week.

McDavid exited Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets following a second-period collision with Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey. 

McDavid, 28, has 26 goals and 90 points in 63 games this season.

Draisaitl sustained an undisclosed injury in Edmonton's 7-1 win over Utah on Tuesday and did not dress against the Jets. He leads the league with 49 goals and the Oilers with 101 points.


New Jersey Devils

The Devils have recalled forward Nolan Foote from the AHL's Utica Comets on Friday. 

Foote, 24, has 18 goals and 39 points in 53 games with Utica this season. He has also appeared in two games with New Jersey but has not recorded a point. 

The Devils currently sit third in the Metropolitan Division with 80 points. 


Minnesota Wild

Goaltender Filip Gustavsson will get the start on Saturday night against the Buffalo Sabres, per The Athletic's Michael Russo. 

The 26-year-old is 27-15-4 in 47 appearances with the Wild this season with a .917 save percentage and 2.51 GAA. 

Minnesota is in the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference, six points ahead of the St. Louis Blues who have the second spot. 


New York Islanders

Marcus Hogberg will make just his second start in the last 21 games on Saturday against the Calgary Flames. 

Hogberg last started on Mar. 9 against the Anaheim Ducks, allowing three goals in a 4-1 loss. 

On the season, the 30-year-old is 2-3-0 in eight appearances this season with a .938 save percentage and 1.70 GAA. 

The Islanders have won three straight games and are two points back of the Montreal Canadiens for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.  


Pittsburgh Penguins

Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic will get the start tonight at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets. 

The 29-year-old is 12-14-5 in 33 appearances this season with an .891 save percentage and 3.17 GAA. He last started on Mar. 7 against the Vegas Golden Knights, a 4-0 loss. 

The Penguins are eighth in the wild-card race in the Eastern Conference with 66 points.
