The Leafs began tinkering with Nazem Kadri on the penalty kill at practice Monday. Mike Babcock said he planned to start using Kadri there next season, but will opt for this season instead. Babcock said he thinks Kadri gets taken out of the game when the Leafs go on the PK as his usual linemates, Michael Grabner and Leo Komarov, both kill penalties. 

Toronto's power-play is 2-37 over the past 10 games.

Nick Spaling, who's missed the past 13 games with an upper-body injury, took part in his first practice with the team. Babcock said he's not close to a return.

Based on practice lines, Daniel Winnik will re-enter the Leafs lineup in favour of Josh Leivo tomorrow.
