Ice Chips: Habs loan D Mailloux back to AHL Rocket

Montreal Canadiens

The team loaned defenceman Logan Mailloux back to the AHL's Laval Rocket on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old blueliner has one goal and three points in five games this season. He had an assist and minus-2 in Tuesday's 8-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken.


Colorado Avalanche

Colorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton will be out six-to-eight weeks with a broken foot in the latest injury blow for the team.

Colton suffered the injury when he took a shot off the foot in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. He was off to a strong start this season with eight goals and an assist in nine games.

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar also announced Wednesday that forward Miles Wood will miss seven-to-10 days with an upper-body injury he had previously played through. 

Injured forward Artturi Lehkonen appears to be nearing a return to the lineup, but Bednar said he will need some practice time before he's back. Winger Jonathan Drouin is also considered day-to-day. 


Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators have loaned forwards Adam Gaudette and Zack Ostapchuk to the AHL's Bellevillle Senators, it was announced Wednesday.

The news comes after Gaudette scored two goals in Ottawa's 8-1 victory over the Boston Bruins Tuesday night.

Gaudette has four goals and one assist for five points in eight games so far this season.

Ostapchuk has one assist in his only NHL outing so far in 2024-25.  


Toronto Maple Leafs

After handing the Winnipeg Jets their first loss this season on Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs kept their lines intact during Wednesday's practice.

Nick Robertson was once again an odd man out in the forward rushes, with Timothy Liljegren among the defensive extras.

The Maple Leafs will host the Seattle Kraken on Thursday. 


Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks appear to be starting Arturs Silovs in net Wednesday against the New Jersey Devils as he was the first off the ice at the morning skate, according to Kevin Woodley of NHL.com.

Silovs last played on Oct. 15 against the Tampa Bay Lightning when he allowed three goals on 26 shots. In two games this season, Silovs has a 4.50 goals-against average and .827 save percentage. 

Kevin Lankinen has played in the five games since, winning four of five games in that span. He has a 2.29 GAA and .920 save percentage in six outings this season.


Edmonton Oilers

Here were Edmonton's lines at their morning skate ahead of their matchup with the Nashville Predators on Thursday, according to TSN's Ryan Rishaug.

Winnipeg Jets

Connor Hellebuyck appears to be the team's starter Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings, according to team reporter Mitchell Clinton. 

The 31-year-old has a .925 save percentage and 2.14 goals-against average in seven games so far this season.  


Detroit Red Wings

Forward Vladimir Tarasenko is dealing with the flu and is a game-time decision Wednesday against the Jets, according to Max Bultman of the The Athletic.

Bultman adds the bug has been going around the Red Wings' dressing room.

The 32-year-old has two goals and one assist in nine games so far this season. 


New Jersey Devils

Jacob Markstrom was in starter's net at the Devils' skate prior to their game against the Vancouver Canucks Wednesday, according to team reporter Amanda Stein.

The 34-year-old is coming off a 6-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday where he stopped 24 of 26 shots.

He has an .895 save percentage and 3.01 goals-against average in eight outings so far this season.
