Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs activated centre David Kampf off of long-term injured reserve on Wednesday and he's set to make his return against the Dallas Stars.
The Maple Leafs cleared a roster spot for Kampf on Tuesday, assigning Fraser Minten to the AHL's Toronto Marlies.
Kampf, sidelined since last month on LTIR, worked as the fourth-line centre between Steven Lorentz and Ryan Reaves in Tuesday's practice.
The 29-year-old forward has three assists in 18 games this season. He has been sidelined since logging 14:22 of ice time against the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 16.
San Jose Sharks
The Sharks have recalled goaltender Yaroslav Askarov from the AHL's San Jose Barracuda.
Askarov, 22, started two games with the Sharks going 1-0-1 with a .927 save percentage and 1.96 goals-against average. He has a 9-4-1 record with a .938 save percentage and 2.00 goals-against average in the AHL.
The 6-foot-3 netminder was acquired in August from the Nashville Predators, along with forward Nolan Burke and a third-round draft pick in 2025, in exchange for forward David Edstrom, goaltender Magnus Chrona, and a first-round draft pick in 2025.
Asakarov appeared in two games with the Predators last season and one game with the team in 2022-23.
Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings have activated goaltender Alex Lyon from injured reserve, the team announced on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old has not played sine Nov. 25 due to a lower-body injury. In nine games this season, Lyon has posted a 2.74 goals-against average and .911 save percentage to go along with his 4-4-0 record.
Fellow Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot was on the ice briefly on Tuesday but did not finish practice with his teammates. Head coach Derek Lalonde says this was part of Talbot's recovery plan and that the veteran will not be available tonight against the Flyers.
"That was planned timing with him on practice today. I do not see him available for Wednesday, but we hope he'll be available for Friday. I think that's trending pretty well."
Philadelphia Flyers
Samuel Ersson will get the start for the Flyers tonight against the Red Wings.
The 25-year-old is 6-4-2 this season with a 2.87 GAA and .891 save percentage.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets have loaned goaltender Jet Greaves to the AHL's Cleveland Monsters.
The 23-year-old has played three games with the Jackets this season, going 0-1-2 with a 3.30 GAA and .896 save percentage.
Florida Panthers
Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov will be a game-time decision for tonight's game against the Minnesota Wild. He did not play Monday in Edmonton due to an illness.
“He got through the morning skate and felt pretty good,” head coach Paul Maurice said. “We’ll get some more food into him and make that decision."
Maurice confirms that Sergei Bobrovsky will start Wednesday night while forward Sam Bennett will not play due to an illness.
"Sam Bennett won’t go," said Maurice. "He was significantly under the weather in the Edmonton game, but knew Barkov couldn’t play and gutted it out for us. The cost of that is that he doesn’t play tonight.”
