Ottawa Senators
Captain Brady Tkachuk skated on Saturday but will not play tomorrow afternoon against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Tkachuk has missed the past six games with an upper-body injury.
The 25-year-old has 29 goals and 55 points in 71 games this season.
The Senators clinched their first postseason berth this week for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
Montreal Canadiens
Top prospect Ivan Demidov hit the ice for the first time with the Canadiens at this morning's optional skate but will not play tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Demidov arrived in Toronto on Thursday from Russia after signing his entry-level contract with Montreal on April 8 after having his KHL contract with SKA St. Petersburg terminated so he can join the NHL early.
The 19-year-old winger scored 19 goals with 49 points in 65 games this season in the KHL. He set the single season points record by a U20 earlier in the season, surpassing Kirill Kaprizov's previous mark of 43.
The Canadiens are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Friday, snapping a six-game winning streak. They need a regulation win to secure the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Goaltender Anthony Stolarz is the projected starter against the Montreal Canadiens tonight.
Stolarz was in the home net this morning at the team's optional skate. The 31-year-old made 25 saves in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He is 19-8-3 in 32 appearances this season with a .922 save percentage and 2.28 goals-against average.
Defenceman Jake McCabe (undisclosed) and forward David Kampf (upper-body) also were on the ice for the optional skate.
McCabe will not play tonight as the Maple Leafs will be playing with five defencemen. He has been injured since Apr. 2 and has missed the past three games. Per TSN's Mark Masters, Leafs head coach Craig Berube expects McCabe to play before the end of the regular season, which wraps up next week with games against Buffalo (Tuesday) and Detroit (Thursday).
Kampf, 30, has missed the last three games after sustaining an injury against the Panthers last Wednesday. In 59 games this season, he has five goals and 13 points.
Colorado Avalanche
Gabriel Landeskog is in the lineup for a second straight game tonight with the AHL's Colorado Eagles.
Landeskog played Friday night with the Eagles in his first game back since Game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final after dealing with knee surgeries. He played 14:49 minutes in a 2-0 win over the Henderson Silver Knights.
The 32-year-old was loaned to the AHL by the Avalanche on Wednesday for a conditioning stint.
The Avalanche have two games remaining in the regular season against the Los Angeles Kings tonight and the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
Washington Capitals
Captain Alexander Ovechkin gets the night off against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight as the Capitals have clinched the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
The 39--year-old broke the NHL goal record on Sunday with his 895th career marker against the New York Islanders to surpass Wayne Gretzky's record of 894.
In 62 games this season, he has 42 goals and 70 points.
Defenceman Jakub Chychrun will also miss his second straight game due to illness. The 27-year-old has 20 goals and 47 points in 72 games this season, his first with the Capitals.
Goaltender Hunter Shepard gets the start against Columbus. In 37 appearances with the AHL's Hershey Bears this season, he was 22-11-3 with a 2.81 GAA and an .891 save percentage.
