The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday that the club has acquired Nigerian striker Orji Okwonkwo on loan from Serie A side Bologna.

Both the Impact and Bologna are owned by Joey Saputo.

"I'm satisfied in welcoming another striker to the team," Impact head coach Remi Garde said in a statement. "Orji Okwonkwo is a young player scouted by Bologna three years ago who will help reinforce the team offensively. He's a strong and quick forward who has an interesting margin of progression. I would like to welcome him to the team."

Okwonkwo, 21, joined Bologna in 2016 from Nigerian club FC Abuja and has appeared in 27 league contests with the team, scoring three goals.

A former Nigeria U-17, Okwonko spent the second half of last season on loan with Brescia in Serie B where he scored a goal in 13 appearances.
