Mauro Icardi is no longer the captain of Inter.
The club confirmed the decision to strip the Argentina international of the armband on Twitter.
Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has been named Icardi's replacement.
The decision comes amid contentious contract negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Icardi's agent, his wife Wanda Nara. The 25-year-old striker's current deal runs until 2021.
A native of Rosario, Icardi joined the club in 2013 from Sampdoria. He was named captain in 2015, taking over from Andrea Ranocchia.
Icardi has made 208 appearances for the club over six seasons, scoring 122 goals.
Inter sits third in the Serie A table, 20 points behind leaders Juventus.
They visit Rapid Vienna in Europa League action on Thursday before hosting Samp in league play on Sunday.
