Former Ottawa Senators head coach Paul MacLean is on the verge of joining the Anaheim Ducks coaching staff.

The 57-year-old was relieved of his duties with the Senators on Dec. 8, 2014.

Over parts of four seasons with the Senators, MacLean posted a 114-90-35 coaching record, reaching the post-season twice. He won the 2013 Jack Adams Award as NHL Coach of the Year.

The Senators marked his first tenure as an NHL head coach.
