This was the first move by new general manager Sean Marks who took over for Billy King last week.

The 30-year-old Italian averaged 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.4 assists over 46 games this season, his first in Brooklyn. He averaged just 13.8 minutes per game. Bargnani signed a two-year, veterans minimum contract (second-year was a player option) this past summer with the Nets after spending the previous two seasons with the New York Knicks.

The Raptors originally selected the seven footer first overall in the 2006 NBA Draft, but never met expectations.

The Nets are 15-40 on the season are sit second last in the Eastern Conference.
