Devils head coach Ruff placed in protocol
The New Jersey Devils announced on Friday that head coach Lindy Ruff had been placed in COVID-19 protocol. As a result, assistant coach Alain Nasreddine will take charge of the team for the Devils' game later on Friday against the Edmonton Oilers.

In his second season with the Devils, the 61-year-old Ruff's 766 career coaching wins are seventh all-time and second among active coaches.
A native of Montreal, the 46-year-old Nasreddine has been an assistant with the Devils since 2015 and served as interim head coach in late 2019 into 2020 after the firing of John Hynes. Under Nasreddine, the Devils posted a 19-16-8 mark.
Prior to coaching, Nasreddine appeared in 74 NHL games over as a player over five seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins.
