Tony Pollard is in demand.
NBC Sports’ Mike Florio reports multiple teams have called the Tennessee Titans about the availability of the veteran running back ahead of next week’s NFL trade deadline, but as of right now, general manager Mike Borgonzi isn’t interested in moving the player.
The Titans made a major trade splash last week when they dealt star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears.
The Titans, coming off of a 43-36 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, now sit 1-7 on the season and will almost assuredly miss the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season.
Pollard, 29, is in his eighth NFL season and third with the Titans. He’s currently ninth in rushing yards with 595 on 133 carries. He has six touchdowns. The Memphis product ran for a career-high 1,082 yards last season for his fourth straight campaign of 1,000-yards-plus rushing.
Pollard, who spent the first five seasons of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, is not only attractive because of his play. He’s also on a very affordable deal. Pollard will earn a pro-rated $3.32 million for the remainder of 2026 and has a non-guaranteed base salary of $6.74 million for next season.
Florio notes that Pollard could be a more affordable alternative to Indianapolis Colts back Jonathan Taylor, who would command a hefty return should be dealt.
Among teams who could be in the market for a running back include the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and the Bengals.
