The St. Louis Blues have claimed defenceman Justin Barron from the Nashville Predators and the New Jersey Devils have nabbed goalie Remi Poirier off waivers from the Dallas Stars, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.
Barron, 24, had nine assists in 52 games last season with Nashville while averaging 14:15 of ice time.
A first-round pick (25th overall) by Colorado in 2020, Barron was dealt to the Montreal Canadiens on March 21, 2022 along with a second-round pick in exchange for winger Artturi Lehkonen.
He played just over two seasons with the Canadiens before he was traded to Predators on Dec. 18, 2024 for defenceman Alexandre Carrier.
Poirier, 24, appeared in 52 games with the AHL’s Texas Stars, going 27-19-6 with a .912 save percentage with a 2.61 goals-against average.
He was a sixth-round pick (185th overall) by Dallas in 2020 and has yet to make his NHL debut.
Predators place defenceman Lyubushkin, Perbix on waivers
With the start of the regular season just days away, the Nashville Predators placed a pair of defenceman on waivers on Sunday in Ilya Lyubushkin and Nick Perbix.
Lyubushkin, a 32-year-old from Russia, was acquired from the Dallas Stars in July after scoring one goal and eight assists over 53 games with the team last season.
Lyubushkin is entering the final season of a three-year, $9.75 million contract, featuring an average annual value of $3.25 million.
He has tallied seven goals and 63 assists over 486 career games with the Arizona Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, Anaheim Ducks and Stars.
Perbix, 28, tallied three goals and 10 assists over 79 games with the Preds in 2025-26, his first year with the team.
The American is in the final season of a two-year, $5.5 million contract with an average annual value of $2.75 million.
Over 299 career games with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Predators, Perbix has 16 goals and 60 assists.
