Toronto Maple Leafs

Starting goalie Joseph Woll, who hasn't played this season due to lower-body tightness, was on the ice ahead of the team's optional skate.

However, Anthony Stolarz was the first off the ice and appears to be the projected starter for Wednesday's game against the visiting Los Angeles Kings.

John Tavares was also on the ice for the morning skate after missing Saturday's win against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an illness and is expected to return on Wednesday.

Fellow forward William Nylander, who is also dealing with an illness, was absent after missing practice on Tuesday. Head coach Craig Berube told the media that Nylander is feeling better and will be a game-time decision against the Kings.

"We'll see how the day goes for him. I think there's improvement so hopefully he's better later and able to play," said the coach.

Vancouver Canucks

Forward Aatu Räty has been assigned to Abbotsford of the American Hockey League.

The 21-year-old has one assist over three games with the Canucks this season.

Räty played in three games with the Canucks in 2023-24, adding 18 goals and 34 assists over 72 games in the AHL.

Montreal Canadiens

ContentId(1.2189913): Dach takes treatment day; St. Louis confident Habs centre will 'get his cues back'

Forward Kirby Dach missed Wednesday's practice for a therapy day.

The 23-year-old has one assist over four games this season after appearing in just two games during the 2023-24 campaign after tearing both his ACL and MCL in mid-October.

Ottawa Senators

Centre Ridly Greig is expected to miss the next two weeks with an upper-body injury, according to Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia.

The 22-year-old hasn't recorded a point in two games this season after scoring 13 goals with 13 assists over 72 games in 2023-24, his first full season in the NHL.

The status of starting goalie Linus Ullmark is still up in the air after he suffered a "strain" against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. He was not at practice on Wednesday.

As a result, the Sens have recalled forward Adam Gaudette and goalie Mads Sogaard from the AHL.

At practice, top defenceman Thomas Chabot collided with Jacob Bernard-Docker during a drill and went to the bench to recover. He later left for the dressing room without returning to the ice. The session ended just a few minutes later. After practice, head coach Travis Green said Chabot was fine.

Defenceman Artem Zub was also absent from Wednesday's skate after exiting Monday's win against the Kings with injury. He will miss the next week with a concussion.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned forward Rutger McGroarty to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, the team announced on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old has played in three games this season, recording no points and a minus-one rating.

Colorado Avalanche

Avs head coach Jared Bednar told the media that defenceman Devon Toews will miss Wednesday's game against the visiting Boston Bruins due to a lower-body injury.

Colorado has lost all three of their games so far this season.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings made a pair of transactions on Wednesday ahead of their game against the Maple Leafs in Toronto, designating defenceman Joel Edmundson to a non-roster player status and recalling goalie Pheonix Copley on an emergency basis from the AHL.

Copley will backup David Rittich on Wednesday as regular starter Darcy Kuemper is sidelined day-to-day with an injury, according to head coach Jim Hiller.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings recall defenceman Justin Holl from AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. The 32-year-old American has one assist over two games with the Red Wings this season.

Holl is in the second season of a three-year, $10.2 million contract featuring an average annual value of $3.4 million. He recorded five assists over 38 games in 2023-24, his first season as a member of the Red Wings.

Buffalo Sabres

Head coach Lindy Ruff says forward JJ Peterka will be available to play in Wednesday's game against the Penguins in Pittsburgh.

The 22-year-old German has missed the last two games after leaving an Oct. 5 game against the New Jersey Devils with an injury after taking a high hit.

Peterka tallied 28 goals and 22 assists over 82 games last season with the Sabres.

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets placed defenceman Erik Gudbranson on injured reserve, president of hockey operations and general manager Don Waddell announced.

The 32-year-old sustained an upper-body injury in the team's home opener against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.

Gudbranson has no points in three games this season. He had six goals and 20 assists in 78 games with the Blue Jackets in 2023-24.

The team also added goaltender Jet Greaves to the roster on emergency recall from the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters.
