Jets' Ehlers draws in for must-win Game 5
With their season on the line, forward Nikolaj Ehlers, who participated in the Winnipeg Jets' optional skate on Thursday, has drawn into the lineup for their must-win Game 5 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The 27-year-old has not played since April 11 with an upper-body injury.
“I feel good. I don’t think I was good enough to play the first few games. I know I said I was [on April 15], but I hadn’t really been on the ice yet — and looking back now — that wouldn’t have ended well,” Ehlers told the media on Wednesday.
Ehlers has 12 goals and 26 assists over 45 games with the Jets in 2022-23, his eighth season with the franchise after they selected him ninth overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Winnipeg will be without star forward Mark Scheifele and defenceman Josh Morrissey for Game 5.
Down 3-1 in their first-round series, the Jets need a win in Las Vegas on Thursday to stay alive and head back to Winnipeg for Game 6 on Saturday.
